Ship in a Bottle Lego Set

By | December 25, 2019

A ship in a bottle has always has always fascinated me. This Lego Ideas set featuring a ship in a bottle is an advanced build suitable for older children and adults. There are lots of tiny pieces so it won’t be suitable for young children.

Once you have completed building this set it will make a great display and quite possibly be a good conversation starter. If you are looking for a set that you can use to encourage some quality family time then this would be an option.

Summary of the important details:

  • Suggested age: 12+ years
  • Number of pieces: 962
  • Number of mini-figures: none included
  • Special items included: a buildable cork and wax seal element, the ship has a captain’s quarters, cannons, mast, sails and flag; there is also a display stand with a nameplate
  • Size: The completed model measures over 3″ (10cm) high, 12″ (31cm) long and 3″ (10cm) deep. The ship measures over 2.5″(8cm) high and  5” (14cm) long and 1” (5cm) wide..
  • Amazon customer rating: 4.8 out of 5

This is the first ship in a bottle set made by Lego and I am really hoping that there will be more to come.

This set does not give kids the option to play with it after it has been built, it really is suitable only for display. But don’t uild it and leave it at home. It will make a really good conversation piece at the office too and won’t take up too much space on your desk.

Although most of the reviews about this set are positive and people really enjoyed the building and the finished model, there are a few people who has some issues with it. Specifically somebody complained about it being too fragile and falling apart when you try to clip the ship into its place inside the bottle. I don’t know about you, but I find that most of the more advanced Lego sets have this challenge and you have to work with some care and patience to get it right. It won’t be the first time that I have had something come apart and have to fix it again before I can finally say that it is done.

The younger builders might need a bit of patience and perseverance to get this set completed. It is a little tricky with all the small pieces.
